Dan and Carrie approached me to help tell the story of their business. As a local small business, they provide apparel items for teams, groups, families, and businesses. They have a wonderful story, they are nothing short of amazing people, and I was so happy to be able to work with them to promote their business.
My Favorite Project
When people ask me what I do and why I like it, I point them to this video. In the end everything I do is about telling a story of some kind. Interviews and corporate commercials are fun and very informative, but telling a story without words is something I strive to be perfect at.
I dont get to shoot with my Phantom 4 much. I was sitting around the other day and decided to go out and practice, and just shoot anything. Naturally I went to the most open place I could find. One that didnt have much that I could wreck my drone on. Luckily I found a really good place with beautiful scenery, and this little hidden forest and pond that I actually found while flying. Philip Bloom has been a huge influence of mine, and this work was inspired by the landscape and scenery videos that he has been posting lately. Enjoy!
Ryan Klapper:
An All-American Story
This is still one of the favorite videos I have ever done. I think what makes this so special is that I was able to find this story, and help tell it. Ryan was a very popular man around campus, (just look at those biceps) and became a friend of mine. To be able to sit down with him and hear this story that not many other people had understood about him, was something really cool. This video is still something I look back at and talk to Ryan about, and we see little things here and there that we wish we would have added, or that we wish we could have said, but at the end of the day Ryan loved this video. I am hoping to do some more documentary work in the future, and to be able to find people like this that have different talents and stories, and share them with everyone.
NeuroQuest LLC.
These 4 videos (and a 5th introduction video for the CEO's), were one of my first true clients. During the course of shooting these videos I got to work with a good friend of mine who took on the role of the producer, and helped me to plan the whole thing. The shoot went AMAZINGLY smoothly, and I could not have asked for a better filming day. I learned how to work, plan, and adapt with a client. We spent all day giggling and sharing lots of laughs over outtakes, or bad shots, or even the dog not wanting to come off our "actor's" lap. A step up from the t3i used in my first Athlete Farm Commercial (Story below) I used a Canon 7D DSLR on this shoot. I also got the chance to use some better lighting and some more techniques that were admitingly a learning process throughout the project, but turned out great, and helped solidify my confidence in lighting set-ups and strategies since! Truly a learning experience, and a great (very functional) final piece!
This is where I started.
This was the first company to give me any sort of shot at what I wanted to do with my life. Athlete Farm (now Johansen Baseball) was started by a friend of mine, whom I actually met while doing this video for him. It was really fun to make this video, and is a true testament to how far I have come. Looking back at this, I still love some of the shots, and still really love what we were able to do with the equipment that I had at the time. All of this was shot on an old Canon t3i DSLR camera with a standard 18-55mm kit lens, 1 Small LED Light, and a $30 slider I found somewhere online. I had fun making this video, and I love to show it to people. When you compare this to my latest work, you can see how much I improve and how quickly I do it. I love what I do, and I am constantly improving at the benefit of my clients. New techniques, new equipment, and new experience have helped me get to the point I am able to be at today.
The two other videos below are both from when I first started. AmeriChem has actually contact me to do another updated video for their company, and Enactus will always be a huge part of my life. I am thankful for all three of these opportunities to show people what I can do. They definitely shaped me into the creative that I am today, and have help me be able to look back and realize how far I have come, and even to show me the distances that I can go.
I truly love video production, and can't wait to work with you too!
